Rapper Big Boi has said that his band Outkast are working on their first new material since 2006 album Idlewild. Speaking to Radio 1’s Zane Lowe he said: “That’s all top secret information right now. We can’t let people know what we’re doing. You better know that something is brewing.” Big Boi, one half of the Atlanta duo along with Andre 3000, is set to release a solo album entitled Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty later this year. A track from that album, Shutterbug, has already been made available to fans. Taken from http://news.bbc.co.uk

Audley Harrison believes it is his “destiny” to fight WBA heavyweight champion David Haye but first must undergo an operation that will sideline him for four months. Harrison, the newly crowned European heavyweight champion, has not been put off by Haye’s manager and trainer Adam Booth recently dismissing him as “not on our radar”. “David Haye doesn’t want to fight me,” Harrison told Sky Sports News. “I’ve sparred many rounds with David Haye. David is a big puncher but is open to getting knocked out. “The history of British heavyweight boxing shows that the two heavyweights always collide at some point. Destiny is going to make me and David Haye fight. “I will go and win a world title and then we’ll see how irrelevant Mr Audley Harrison is.” Taken from www.skysports.com

“We can’t help but love it when old favourites from gadget days gone by make a comeback, and so we were more than chuffed to hear that the vintage Commodore 64 computer is set to go on sale once again. Yes, the computer that was no doubt the foundation of many Stuffers’ gaming roots will be available through Commodore USA’s online store, set to open on 1 June. As can only be expected, it’s had a spec tweak to conform with computers today, packing a 500GB hard drive and 4GB of RAM. There will also be a choice of Blu-ray or DVD drive, touchpad, four USB ports and an Ethernet port. It’ll also run a choice of operating systems, including Windows 7.” Taken from http://stuff.tv (26/03/10)

“Mozilla has released Firefox 3.6.2 almost a week early after security issues were found in earlier versions. Firefox 3.6.2 was originally due to launch at the end of March, but is available to download now from the Mozilla website. The security hole had led the German government to issue a warning about Firefox 3.6. The Federal Office for Information Security made a similar ruling on the safety of Internet Explorer in January. It warned that the Firefox vulnerability, confirmed by Firefox makers, could allow hackers to run malicious programs on users’ computers. Germany’s official cyber-security response team – BurgerCERT – had recommended that users stop using Firefox until the tested fix was released. It was a move remarkably similar to the January announcement, in which France followed suit just days later.” Taken from news.bbc.co.uk (23/03/10)

Strong growth in online revenues and from use of British music abroad helped offset continued decline in traditional CD and DVD formats last year to boost income for PRS for Music, which represents 65,000 songwriters, composers and publishers, by 2.6% to £623 million. Increases in the number of legal digital music services across the UK and Europe pushed income from online sales up by almost 73% to £30.4 million, while exchange rate gains and new international licensing arrangements saw foreign income rise by almost a fifth to £166.9 million. Google has apologised after its Street View photo mapping service showed a frontal view of a naked child on a family day out. Images of the blond boy, aged four or five, went live on Thursday in an update for the service. They pictured him with his trousers down after going to the toilet on Wimbledon Common, South-West London. The photos, showing the child’s mother or nanny helping him dress and a man looking on, have sparked fears that paedophiles will have a new way to search for photos or targets online. Google had blurred the child’s face but not the registration plate of the family’s car, making it possible to trace their address. The photos were removed soon after Google was alerted yesterday. Radio 1 and the Official Charts Company start broadcasting a midweek chart update from today (Wednesday 10 March). The half-hour show, which will go out on Greg James’ show between 3.30-4pm, will feature both singles and albums. Before now official midweek chart figures have been sent to industry staff only but not broadcast. Martin Talbot from the Official Charts Company said last month: “Music fans will get a reliable insight into how the race for number one is shaping up.” The update will be based on the “sales flashes” which are already circulated by the Official Charts Company to the music industry on Wednesday mornings.
